Finally after quite some time I managed to finalize and publish the new design of my homepage. But not only the design is new, I also changed the blogging engine that is working in the background. Previously I used a Typo3 based solution, which worked well but was not optimized for blogging (=fast, simple, working). Also while adopting it to the new design this system was the largest block on the road. Hard to adopt, lots of work and not offering many features.
Luckily I'm subscribed to the blog of Klaus Rusch, who is using the Blogger engine and publishing the data on his own Web space. I did not know this is possible, so I gave it a try. Within a few minutes the publishing was set up and thanks to the easy template language I integrated my design with ease. But - still not sure if I should use an external vendor for my blogging system?
Until I discovered a great feature - being able to post blog entries by sending mails to a specific address allows me to post entries (and even photos!) using my iPhone while being on the road. A Fantastic feature! Sold.
